NEW CAPTAINS IN POST READY FOR THE NEW SEASON!

Danny and Roshani were presented their ’shirts’ at the Club’s end of season get together, Sunday 25th July. They will be in post for the a year and are mainly there to provide a focus and voice for all young swimmers. They will be asked to have input on a new aspect to the club that of NON – SWIMMING, social activities with the young swimmers very much in mind.

Thanks to all for sharing good food and entertainment for the sunny afternoon in Upton.

Thanks mainly to the committte members, Karen, Sharon, Marion, Mandy, Deanna, for helping out, and particularly Lesley for coordinating it.

Thanks too, to Andrew of DIDCOT CALOR and PAVING for the loan of the big BBQ. Tony for the little BBQ. Derek for collecting big BBQ, music and Gazebo. Mark for another gazebo! Leily for the games.

Thanks to those who helped set up and those who stayed to clear up.

Success at Tigersharks’ Separated Medley!

Didcot Barramundi had nine finalists in this weekends Separated Medley at Tigersharks, Swindon and won three 1st place Championship Awards, a 2^nd, a 3rd and four 4^th places (pictured). Entrants swam 50m of each stroke, finalist were six fastest overall then swimming a 100/200 IM.

Hi all,

Please find attached an entry pack for our Club Champs which takes place on the following dates:

25/26th Sept

2nd Oct

3rd Oct – 800/1500m events only

14th Nov – back up date for the 800/1500m events.

Club Champs 2010 (V1)entry pack

As The Wave is not suitable for holding competitive swimming galas, we are fortunate to be invited (this will be our 3rd year) to the City of Oxford Club Champs along with 4 other small swimming clubs.

It will operate in the same way as other swimming galas, whereby our swimmers will compete against swimmers from the other clubs but there are no medals handed out on the day. For medals, our swimmers will be competing against Barramundi swimmers only, and these medals will be presented at our Presentation Night taking place from 7.30pm to 10.30pm on 27th Nov at Didcot Football Club. Another great social event for all the family!

ALL swimmers are expected to enter the Club Champs and encouraged to enter as many events as possible, under the guidance of their swimming coach. Please ask the coach which races to enter for your swimmer and an entry time if possible so they can be seeded against similiar swimmers.

If your swimmer has not competed before this will be a great first gala, perhaps a little less formal than other galas but still as important. There will be more Barramundi swimmers attending than usual, therefore a great team spirit and lots of support.

All of the events will take place at Temple Cowley swimming pool and swimmers can use the times from this gala for entry into the County Championships, if fast enough, which take place in March 2011.

Unlike other galas, that we attend, 8 year olds will be able to compete.

Within the pack you will find the programme of events – split into “sessions” and within each session are a number of events listed with the event no. first, followed by a B/G (Boy/Girl), then the distance i.e. 100metres followed by the stroke ( IM = Individual Medley, BK = Backstroke, FL = Butterfly, FR = Freestyle, BR = Breaststroke)

The cost of entering is £3.50 per event, please complete the entry form (within the attachment) by PRINTING all details (ensuring the form is signed) and pass to me or leave in an envelope (clearly marked for my attention) in the Barramundi tray at The Wave no later than 31st July.

Any cheques should be made payable to DIDCOT BARRAMUNDI SC, as with all swimming galas they like to receive one cheque from the club so we ask for all payment to us, then we send one cheque to City of Oxford.

BBAT GALA – (closed meet) – open to all who will be County age by March 13th. CLOSING DATE: 19th July.

Hi all,

Please find below details of the BBAT (Barramundi, Bourne End, Aylesbury and Thame) swimming gala taking place on Sunday 19th Sept at Aquavale, Aylesbury. This is the pool where the main evenrs for County Champs takes place.

This is a closed gala being offered to swimmers registered with the 4 swimming clubs listed above. It will be open to all swimmers who are registered with the ASA and will be 9years old by 13th March 2011.

They will be offering 50m races and the 100m IM to all swimmers, and the 100m races to boys who will be 11 by 13th March and girls who will be 10 by this date – this is in line with the rules of County Champs.

The cost of entry is £3 per event and all Barramundi swimmers are encouraged to enter if possible.

If you are new to competitive swimming please print off the attached entry form and speak to your swimmer’s coach for advice on which events to enter. Then ask them for an entry time, if you can. This time should be entered on the form against the corresponding race.

Once you have completed your entry form please pass to DEBI or place in an envelope clearly marked for Debi’s attention in the Barramundi tray along with payment. (Cheques should be made payable to DIDCOT BARRAMUNDI SC) no later than 19th July.
